Mitutoyo’s 378 series objectives feature long working distances and incorporate a corrective optical system. These objectives allow for high-magnification observation with independent chromatic aberration correction. Utilizing an infinity-corrected optical system, Mitutoyo microscope objectives generate images through the combination of an objective lens and an imaging lens (tube lens). Since chromatic aberration is corrected independently by both the objective and the imaging lens, the Mitutoyo objective series functions as a complete, self-contained optical system. Consequently, these objectives can be used either independently or integrated into expanded systems—allowing users to select their own imaging lenses and incorporate the objectives into existing equipment. Mitutoyo also offers a variety of imaging lenses, as well as the VMU series—a modular video microscope system built upon this optical architecture.
